"How many times are you going to let your phone buzz before you pick it up?" David rubbed his eyes with both hands while he gave a jaw-cracking yawn.

"Fuuuck. I can't believe I didn't hear it going off, I never do that. Must’ve been more worn out than I realized." I grabbed my phone off the nightstand, groaning when I saw the stream of messages telling me to get my ass back to HQ.

After I fired off a quick group text to let the team know we'd be on our way ASAP, I rolled over and pulled my mate into my arms for a kiss.

"Eww, no, I'm pretty sure my breath smells like ass right now." David tried to squirm away, laughing as he turned his head to the side as though I wouldn't have already smelled whatever breath he had going on.

"What exactly does turning your head do? Shifter noses smell everything, remember? Besides, I'm pretty sure we probably have the same breath right about now." I rolled him onto his back and and mercilessly tickled him until he was practically crying with laughter.

"Uncle!" David wheezed between laughs.

"Sugar, if you think I'm your uncle then we've got bigger problems than your brothers wanting to unman me." I swooped in to steal a kiss before rolling away and getting up. "Come on, lazy bones. What, are you just gonna lay there in bed all day while the team waits for us back at HQ?"

I ducked to avoid the pillow he threw at me, laughing all the way into the bathroom. After a quick piss, I looked in the mirror to see if I could get away with not shaving today. Fuck it. Yeah, I was a little scruffy but that wasn't worth making the guys wait any longer than I already had.

David was fully dressed when he burst in while I was brushing my teeth. "Sorry if this is awkward—but I couldn't hold it any longer, especially once you turned the water on."

"Why would it be awkward? Everybody pees, am I right? Here, I have a spare toothbrush you can have." When David narrowed his eyes in question, I quickly explained. "They came in a multipack when I bought mine, I promise I'm not like your brothers with spares for random hookups. Actually, you're the first person who wasn't related to me to even come to my apartment, let alone sleep here."

My mate seemed pleased by that. He flashed me a smile then hip-checked me to get some sink space to wash his hands. I put my brush back in the holder and leaned around him to spit and rinse before passing him the unopened toothbrush from the medicine cabinet. After dropping a quick kiss on the nape of his neck, I gave him a swat on the butt and left to get dressed.

We were halfway to headquarters when David's stomach started growling. His eyes narrowed at me as he rubbed his stomach.

"Are you planning to starve me every morning? Or is this just because we overslept today?"

"Sugar, I promise you're not starving.
